Kara is a Senior Director at eBay Inc., heading its Global Information Governance, eDiscovery, and Legal Analytics Group. With more than 20 years’ experience in the areas of commercial litigation, eDiscovery, and records compliance in both private practice and corporate in-house roles, Kara brings a unique perspective together with deep expertise related to issues in eDiscovery and data management compliance and is recognized as a thought leader in this area.

Kara was one of the founding members of eBay’s in-house eDiscovery program, where she helped facilitate the successful implementation of in-house end to end data life cycle management and in-house eDiscovery, transforming processes round data preservation, collections, review, and production. In her current role, Kara establishes and manages eBay’s eDiscovery strategy in litigation and regulatory investigations and examinations. Her team is constantly working to identify issues and opportunities for innovation in this area, leveraging automation and technology assisted solutions wherever possible.

Kara is responsible for the development and management of eBay’s Records and Information Governance program. Kara regularly counsels the business on legal requirements and best practices for new technology implementations, as well as cybersecurity risks. Her team also provides legal guidance and vital support in the M&A space related to defensible data separation and/or integration in key acquisitions and divestitures.

Prior to joining eBay, Kara was a commercial litigator and shareholder at a highly regarded Southwest regional law firm for 13 years, specializing in commercial disputes, banking matters, the Natural Gas Act, eminent domain, and products liability defense. Kara has received various recognitions for her work over the years, including being named as one of the Women Leaders in Tech Law.
