Afternoon Breakout Sessions
A) Litigating the New Way of Working: eDiscovery Hot Topics (CLE*)
-
It’s no secret that the way people work has quickly and fundamentally changed in recent history. Across every industry, the fabric of “work” looks completely different than it did even five years ago: everything from where we work, to the devices we use, to what our work product looks like. All of this change has left compliance, legal, and eDiscovery teams struggling to keep up. The sudden shift to collaboration platforms and mobile devices for work, and the emergence of generative AI and new business data sources, has raised novel and challenging legal and privacy risks for organizations.
In this session, we’ll dive into those challenges by presenting real world scenarios and debating the best ways to approach them.
- Speaker: Joel Bothof, Christian J. Mahoney, Bill Mariano, Jeane Thomas
B) Strategies for Managing the Lifecycle of Employee Data (CLE*)
-
Hybrid work environments, robust collaboration platforms, cloud-based storage—all exceptional advancements that are simultaneously improving the modern workplace and creating unprecedented challenges for data governance. Where to find an organization’s most valuable IP and who can access it can change rapidly, meaning a reactive approach to managing employee data is no longer tenable.
To evolve with technology necessary for today’s work, you need a more holistic and agile program for managing employee data. Join our panel of experts as they discuss contemporary challenges with employee data and how to manage it from day one.
- Speakers: Daniel Black, Jessica Casey, C. Matthew Haynes
A) Advanced Technology for Revolutionizing Second Requests and Matters Beyond (CLE*)
-
Artificial intelligence has seemingly limitless potential but trying to understand its real-world applications can leave more questions than answers. Innovation in advanced AI has created more precise and efficient tools to handle the data volume and complexity, as well as the speed required, in Second Requests. Even further, these solutions are proving invaluable with their flexibility beyond antitrust matters—from finding key documents to reinvigorated review workflows and better understanding and utilizing critical data.
In this session, take a deep dive into how advanced technology can revitalize your approach to Second Requests and other crucial matters.
- Speakers: Kamika Brown, Harsha Kurpad, Corey Roush
B) A Clean Slate: Archive Transformation, Data Governance, and Risk (CLE*)
-
Archive transformation can seem like an intimidating next step for your organization. While the end goal of migrating to the Cloud provides obvious critical benefits, the actual process often appears impossibly complex, time consuming, and pitted with a minefield of risks. But just as moving to a new physical home presents an opportunity to purge unnecessary belongings and to become more organized, migrating to a new data infrastructure offers an incredible opportunity to streamline data and up-level data management processes to better manage risk.
Join us as we explore the details of archive transformation, including how to build a business case, plan the process, avoid pitfalls, and take advantage of all the potential opportunities.
- Speakers: Jamie Brown, David Moncure, Sam Sierra

Legal teams have grappled with ballooning datasets for years, with no end in sight. These data volumes have exploded legal spend and increased risk, leaving eDiscovery teams searching for better technology and workflows to manage data once it’s exported. But taking a more holistic view of data presents exciting opportunities to minimize volumes even prior to collection.
In this session, experts discuss how to reinvent your approach to review by employing data reduction strategies across the entire data lifecycle—from in-place data governance strategies that reduce data volumes downstream to new technology that can drastically reduce the volume of data sent to linear review teams.
Speakers: Dan Brassil, EJ Bastien, Jennifer Tudor Wright
